Free calculators and planning tools for CCTV and low-current systems
Work out recording storage, how many cameras an area needs and which systems your building needs, before you ask for a quote. Results are preliminary and are confirmed in a site survey.
CCTV storage calculator
Enter the number of cameras, the average bitrate you measure, the days you must keep recordings and the recording mode: you get the disk capacity to plan for. Useful to size an NVR before you buy.
Open the toolCCTV coverage calculator and design tool: camera count by area, bill of quantities
Place cameras on your floor plan, see coverage and blind spots, estimate how many cameras an area needs, and download a printable report with the bill of quantities.
Open the toolSolution advisor
Choose your type of facility and project phase and see which low-current systems it normally needs, with the deliverables for each stage.
Open the toolSolar sizing guide
How to size solar panels and batteries for cameras and small loads, and what to check before you buy.

CCTV storage calculator and how many cameras an area needs
We offer free tools to plan before you ask for a quote: a CCTV recording storage calculator, a tool that estimates the number of cameras and their coverage for the area of your building, and an advisor that picks the low-current systems your facility needs.
Common questions
How do I calculate the hard disk size for CCTV cameras?
Multiply the average bitrate per camera by the number of cameras, by the seconds in a day, then by the retention days. The calculator does this and adds a margin; measure the real bitrate on site rather than the datasheet maximum.
How many cameras do I need for an area?
There is no fixed figure per square metre: the count depends on the task (face or plate recognition, or general view), the lens, the light and obstructions. The design tool estimates the number and shows coverage; the final figure is confirmed after a site survey.
